The Government will provide $4.0 million over two years to the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation to upgrade and extend its radioactive waste conditioning infrastructure. The funding will be used for the compaction of low level radioactive waste and modification of existing storage facilities.

The Government will provide $30.0 million in 2007-08 to fund an automated production process that meets world’s best practice for safety and quality in the production of radiopharmaceutical products.
An additional $5.0 million in 2008-09 will be provided from within the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation’s accumulated cash reserves.
