Australian Government budget aggregates

The table below shows the main cash and accrual budget aggregates for the Australian Government general government sector over the period 2005-06 to 2010-11.(a) The underlying cash surplus is estimated to be $10.6 billion in 2007-08. In accrual terms, a fiscal surplus of $10.0 billion is expected.

  1. All estimates are based on Government Finance Statistics (GFS) standards, but with goods and services tax (GST) revenue collected on behalf of the States and Territories netted off revenue and expenses.
  2. Excludes expected Future Fund earnings from 2005 06 onwards.
